A denture is a removable dental prosthetic that is used to replace one or more missing teeth for aesthetic and functional purposes. The amount of teeth that can be replaced with a denture vary and can range from only one tooth to all teeth.

However, if the denture is made to fit well and with good guidance from your dentist as well as time and practice, most people are able to adapt to eating with their dentures.

Some simple instructions to always follow if you have dentures include:

• Remove denture and clean it after meals
• Brush denture twice a day with a soft toothbrush to remove food and plaque
• Remove denture at night and keep it in a denture container
• Clean denture with warm water, mild soap and toothbrush
• Clean gums and remaining teeth with a soft toothbrush and toothpaste

At your denture insert appointment, your dentist will go through specific instructions on how to look after your denture for the best and long lasting results.
